Different, not broken (Trailer)

Published on: 3rd April, 2025

You are different, not broken! And this podcast is for you.

The podcast delves into the profound notion that societal norms often dictate how individuals should perceive themselves and their identities.

The speakers assert that the premise of conformity is fundamentally flawed; they challenge the idea that one's inherent characteristics warrant correction or modification.

Through candid reflections on personal experiences, they explore the concept of embracing one's 'boring' life as a means of healing.

The discussion emphasizes that what might seem unremarkable or mundane can, in fact, serve as a sanctuary for mental wellness. The narrative is anchored in the belief that many individuals have been subjected to the erroneous notion that they must alter their authentic selves to gain acceptance.

This podcast serves as a rallying cry for those who have felt marginalized by such expectations, reinforcing the idea that being 'different' is not synonymous with being 'broken.'

Speaker A:

One of the things, like one of the very early baseline things we said is no podcasts.

Speaker A:

Everybody has a podcast.

Speaker A:

We're not going to do a podcast.

Speaker A:

It's far easier to be unhinged as an individual on the Internet than it is as a company.

Speaker A:

I say that my life is boring all the time, and that's true.

Speaker A:

Like no shoes melting into bed, watching Dateline, that's my jam.

Speaker A:

But boring is good for other reasons.

Speaker A:

And there are ways that your brain makes things boring to actually help you heal.

Speaker A:

Different Not Broken is about the people who have been told that the way you are isn't correct, that the way that you wake up in the morning needs to be fixed or changed or adjusted in order to be acceptable or palatable for the outside world.

Speaker A:

For the most part, that's bullshit, and we don't accept it.

Speaker A:

The brain dissects things.

Speaker A:

It takes it apart.

Speaker A:

It looks at it from every angle.

Speaker A:

When you think you've come up with every possible outcome of it, it puts it all back together, tears it apart again, and finds a new piece.

Speaker A:

And we're going to talk about that today.

Speaker A:

This is Lauren.

Speaker A:

I go by L2.

Speaker A:

Yes, you can call me L2.

Speaker A:

Everybody does.

About the Podcast

Different, not broken
You’ve spent your whole life feeling like something’s wrong with you. Here’s a radical thought: what if you’re not broken - just different?

Welcome to Different, Not Broken, the no-filter, emotionally intelligent, occasionally sweary podcast that challenges the idea that we all have to fit inside neat little boxes to be acceptable. Hosted by L2 (aka Lauren Howard), founder of LBee Health, this show dives into the real, raw and ridiculous sides of being neurodivergent, introverted, chronically underestimated - and still completely worthy.

Expect deeply honest conversations about identity, autism, ADHD, gender, work, grief, anxiety and everything in between.

There’ll be tears, dead dad jokes, side quests, and a whole lot of swearing.

Whether you're neurodivergent, neurotypical, or just human and tired of pretending to be someone you’re not, this space is for you.

Come for the chaos.
Stay for the catharsis.
Linger for the dead Dad jokes.
